On November 4, the result of Goncourt Prize, a grand prix of French literature, was announced that Pierre Lemaitre, a 62-year-old writer, won the prize with his fiction Goodbye in the Sky, while another grand prix, Renaudot Prize, belonged to Yann Moix, a 45-year-old writer and director, with his novel Birth.

With main creation of suspense detective novels, Pierre Lemaitre is reputed as s shining new star in French thriller fiction. This time, he won this pure literature award with a novel about an escorted soldier in the World War One. The comments from jury focused on his impressive continuous fear about the post-war life and film-like style of narration. Notably, 2014 will be the centenary of World War One.

As a successful film director and winner of Goncourt Prize in 1996 with his virgin book, Yann Moix won Renaudot Prize with his giant works of 1152 pages with a weight of 1.3 kilos. However, this book just tells a story about child abuse of a writer named Yann Moix.
