“Between Heaven and Earth—Kok Heng San’s State-of-Mind Photography Series” exhibition, part of “Macao Artists Promotion Plan” sponsored by Macao Foundation, was held at Exhibition Hall of Macao Center of Education, Science and Culture from February 10 till 20. Along with the exhibition consisting of 42 selected works by Macao artist Kok Heng San, the album “Between Heaven and Earth—Kok Heng San’s State-of-Mind Photography Series” was issued simultaneously.

Distinguished guests such as Mr. Shao Bin, assistant director of Department of Culture and Education of Central Liaison Office in Macao, Mr. Zheng Xinyou, director general of Department of Public Diplomacy and Information of Commissioner’s Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao, Mr. Wu Zhiliang, president of Macao Foundation, Mr. Lai Weng Chio, eternal honorary president of Salon Photography Society, Mr. Cheang Sai Keong, honorary consultant of Macao Digital Photography Society, Ms. Wong Lai Chu, member of Photography Society of America, Mr. Kuo Keng Man, president of Macao Photography Society, Mr. Ho Kan Keong, artist of Photography Society of America and the author Kok Heng San, attended the opening ceremony.

As most pictures in this exhibition are taken from ordinary scenes or some objects prone to be neglected in daily life, the author adopted an extensive title “Between Heaven and Earth”. Over two thirds of the pictures were created in Macao and taken from 1995 up till now as a record of many disappearing elements in Macao as well as panorama of the author’s artistic creation and technique in photography in varied periods of time.

As Kok Heng San expressed, through the objects in the lens and its inner spirit, his creation tends to convey his own state of mind and intention to the audiences and remind of their imagination and sympathy. In his artistic formality, the contrast between light and shadow and graphic combination constitute an extraordinary effect that has endowed those pictures with artistic appeal and radiated a refreshing rhythm.
