At the opening ceremony of the 13th “Meet in Beijing” Arts Festival, Jose Carreras, one of the top three tenors in the world, took his debut on the stage of “Meet in Beijing”. With selected world famous melody and Chinese songs, this maestro conquered the entire audience. His repertoire includes La Serenata and Marechiare representative works by Italian opera master Francesco Paolo Tosti, Italian famous song Lamento di Federico from opera Francesco Cilea touched the audiences’ hearts in a mild and affectionate manner. 

In the concert, the special guest, a Chinese young soprano Wang Li took an elegant appearance as well. With mastery of sophisticated voice skill and vocality, Wang Li gave her interpretation of The Doll Song from The Tales of Hoffmann by Offenbach and O mio babbino caro from the representative opera Gianni Schicchi by Puccini, both of which demonstrated attraction of Chinese modern vocality. When Wang Li, image ambassador of “Meet in Beijing”, and Carreras jointly presented the song My Beijing My Home, the concert reached the climax with strong acclamation and enthusiasm from the audience.
