From Macao to Hong Kong 

—— CFLAC Gala with Hong Kong and Macao Members 

On the evening of May 6, people in Macao will find songs and laughter flying from “Spring of Macao—Macao and Mainland Artists Gala” jointly sponsored by Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of CFLAC, Culture and Education Department of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region and Macao Chinese Cultural Friendship Association and funded by Macao Foundation. Sun Jiazheng, vice chair of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of CFLAC, Chui Sai-on, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Feng Yuan, vice president of CFLAC, Li Benjun, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Lu Shumin, commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Lou Zhihao, deputy director of Committee of Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese of CPPCC, Liang Hua, president of Macao Chinese Cultural Friendship Association, along with over 300 celebrities from literary and art circles from both Mainland and Macao, attended the gala. On May 5 and 8 respectively, Feng Yuan headed the delegation to hold friendship associations in Macao and Hong Kong, where the delegation collected opinion and suggestion on CFLAC work and its 9th National Congress from artists in Macao and Hong Kong. Against the background of the coming National Congress of CFLAC, this exchange with Macao and Hong Kong counterparts constitutes a scene of harmony and passion. 

 

 

 

 

At the gala, Sun Jiazheng, on behalf of CPPCC and CFLAC, extended his congratulations on the holding of this event. He held that under the great support of central government and with the excellent leadership of Ho Hau-wah and Chui Sai-on, two CEs of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Macao has witnessed economic development, welfare improvement, social stability and all-round prosperity for 12 years since its returning to motherland. History has shown the correctness of the guideline of high degree of autonomy such as “One Country, Two Systems” and “Macao People Administrating Macao” and diligent and wise Macao compatriots’ capability to build and manage a better Macao. This gala between artists from mainland and Macao will play an important role in promoting cultural exchange and local cultural industries in Macao. He hoped that art circles of both Mainland and Macao will take this opportunity to forge closer links and cooperation as well as make a larger contribution to a better Macao in the future. 

Blueprint Co-designed in Macao 

In May, there is always a living atmosphere in Macao. On May 5, CFLAC Friendly Association with Macao Members took place in Macao. Distinguished guests present at this event are Feng Yuan, vice president of CFLAC, Liu Xiaohang, director of Department of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, and Wu Zhiliang, president of Macao Foundation. During the meeting and in the interval, celebrities in Macao literary and art circles such as Lee Shing Chun, Kuok Keng Man, Iuan Teng Hau, Hoi Kin Wa, Lei Pang Chu, Chan Chi Vai, An An Cai, Mu Fan Zhong, Mio Pang Fei, Li Sheng Ying, Kuan Kun Cheong, Ying E Ding and Lin Ka Sang presented their own opinions, negotiated about cooperation or put forward valuable suggestion on how to strengthen CFLAC’s function of contact, coordination and service and how to bring Hong Kong and Macao members into full play. 

 

 

Joint Discussion in Hong Kong 

On May 8, CFLAC Friendly Association with Hong Kong members was opened in Hong Kong, which gathered over 80 Hong Kong members in joint discussion of cooperation between literary and art circles in Mainland and Macao as well as suggestion collection for the 9th National Congress of CFLAC. Feng Yuan, vice president of CFLAC, Li Gang, deputy director of the Liaison Office of Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Zeng Decheng, director of Civil Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong, and Shi Ziqing, deputy director of Committee of Cultural and Historic Study of CPPCC attended this event. 

In the wake of this friendly association, Feng Yuan had discussions with some Hong Kong artists. Kang Jianmin, Wu Changjiang, Feng Shuangbai, Zhao Changqing, Shao Xuemin, Wang Jianguo, responsible men from China Film Association, China Artists Association, China Dancers Association, China Calligraphy Association, China Acrobats Association, and China Musicians Association as well as Huang Wenjuan and Fan Bin, director and deputy director of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of CFLAC were present at the meeting to collect opinions and suggestion so as to enhance communication and cooperation. During their stay in Hong Kong, Feng Yuan also headed the delegation to visit Takungpao Press and Hong Kong Asian TV where the delegation were warmly received by Jiang Zaizhong, president of Takungpao Press and Wang Zheng, main investor of Asian TV, and exchanged views concerning the way to publicize Chinese culture to the outside world.
